Civil Engineering Intern (Summer 2026)

CSDG is excited to offer a Summer 2026 Civil Engineering Internship Program designed for motivated students seeking hands-on experience in general civil engineering and land development. This immersive program blends real-world project exposure with a team-based capstone-style project, allowing interns to apply classroom knowledge to practical engineering challenges.

Interns will work alongside experienced engineers and designers while gaining exposure to stormwater management, grading, and utility design across a variety of commercial, residential, and municipal projects in the Middle Tennessee region.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Hands-on involvement in active civil engineering projects
  • A collaborative capstone project completed as part of a small intern team and presented at the conclusion of the program
  • Exposure to the full project lifecycle—from concept through design
  • Mentorship from licensed Professional Engineers and senior staff
  • Insight into consulting engineering, land development, and professional practice

Key Resposibilities:

  • Assist engineering staff with site design tasks related to:
    • Stormwater management and drainage systems
    • Grading and earthwork design
    • Water and sanitary utility layout
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and data analysis
  • Participate in project meetings, internal reviews, and site visits as available
  • Collaborate with fellow interns on a team-based capstone project addressing a real-world civil engineering problem

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a junior, senior, or graduate student in an accredited program in Civil Engineering
  • Strong interest in site civil engineering and land development
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D is a plus (not required)
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a team environment

Internship Details:

  • Location: Nashville, TN
  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours) summer internship
  • Compensation: Paid internship (rate based on experience & academic level). Interns not eligible for company benefits.
  • Duration: Mid-May through July 2026, with flexibility to accommodate academic schedules
