CSDG Participates in AIA Chattanooga’s Fall Design Discourse Week

Last week, CSDG’s Landscape Architecture team joined design professionals from across Chattanooga for AIA Chattanooga’s Fall Design Discourse Week, a celebration of collaboration, creativity, and community.

The week featured a series of tours, discussions, and design events highlighting the power of cross-disciplinary collaboration in shaping stronger, more resilient communities.

CSDG’s Kyle Jacobson, PLA, represented the Tennessee Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (TNASLA) and CSDG on a panel that brought together architects, preservationists, designers, and advocates for a thoughtful conversation on how shared perspectives lead to more impactful design outcomes. Kyle emphasized how thoughtful site design can shape experience, strengthen performance, and connect people to place.

The panel also featured Todd Morgan from Preserve Chattanooga, Eric Myers from Chattanooga Design Studio, Dr. Allison Quintanilla Plattsmier, CFRE, GPC from green|spaces, Vanessa Verschek from Tinker Ma, LLC, and Aaron Cole from Open Architecture Practice, all of whom contributed meaningful insights on how design disciplines can work together to drive positive, lasting change.

A special thank you goes to CSDG's Graham Hartness, who coordinated landscape architecture’s involvement on behalf of TNASLA, ensuring the profession was represented throughout the week. His efforts included organizing a tour of Coolidge Park and participating in the week’s design charrette.

CSDG extends appreciation to AIA Chattanooga, including Tiffany Vargo, Tom Horvath, Associate AIA, Susan Cader Santos, and the many others involved, for hosting such a meaningful series of events and for supporting the role of landscape architecture in Chattanooga’s design community.

We’re proud to be part of Chattanooga’s ongoing growth and creative momentum, and this week underscored the strength of the city’s community and the shared commitment to creating spaces that connect people, place, and purpose.
