Within the larger Grande Dunes master-planned community, Living Dunes was envisioned as a neighborhood where walkability, open space, and a strong connection to the outdoors would shape the daily experience of residents. The goal was to create a community that balances the character of coastal living with thoughtfully integrated amenities, recreational opportunities, and a connected public realm.
Spanning 52 acres in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the community features a mix of townhomes, cottages, and single-family residences organized around four central lakes. The site plan was carefully designed to encourage pedestrian activity and maximize access to open space, creating opportunities for residents to engage with both the landscape and one another throughout the neighborhood.
A network of trails, waterfront gathering areas, and community amenities serve as the foundation of the resident experience. Amenities include a resort-style pool and cabana, putting green, waterfront boardwalk, and miles of walking trails that connect homes to shared spaces throughout the community. Together, these elements create a neighborhood environment that promotes recreation, wellness, and a strong sense of community.
Working alongside ownership, architects, and local engineering partners, CSDG provided planning and landscape architecture services to help bring the vision for Living Dunes to life. Through the integration of site planning, infrastructure, open space design, and amenity programming, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design can create a walkable, amenity-rich community rooted in both place and experience.
