Transforming the site of a former thermal plant, West Riverfront Park and Ascend Amphitheater represent the first phase of Nashville’s riverfront redevelopment, converting an underutilized industrial property into a vibrant civic destination. Today, the project stands as an iconic downtown entertainment venue and the first outdoor amphitheater in the United States to achieve LEED Gold certification.
Key features include a 1.5-acre amphitheater with seating for 6,000, redevelopment along 1st Avenue, more than a mile of multi-use greenway trails, Nashville’s first downtown dog park, and thoughtfully designed ornamental gardens that reconnect the city to the Cumberland River. CSDG contributed to the project’s early vision through civil engineering and planning services, helping establish the framework for this award-winning and nationally recognized public space.
